AccuStandard | PCBs and Related Compounds
Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are man-made organic chemicals consisting of carbon, hydrogen and chlorine atoms. PCBs were manufactured worldwide for industrial applications including use in coolants and insulating fluids for transformers and capacitors. Other applications included carbonless copy paper, paints, hydraulic fluids, plasticizers, plastic additives and flame retardants.
In 1993, AccuStandard was the first manufacturer to have synthesized all 209 PCB congeners. We offer a wide variety of reference standards for PCBs and related compounds to support the research and analysis of these environmental pollutants.

Individual 209 PCB Congeners
To support the identification of PCB congeners, we offer high purity CRMs for all 209 PCB congeners in a form of solution as well as Neat. All CRMs are prepared with 99% or better purity by GC-MS
All 209 congeners are 99+ pure by GC/FID or GC/MS

209 Congeners Present/Not Present in Aroclors
Although the USEPA has banned the manufacturing of PCBs and phased out most of PCB uses, its environmental impacts still persist. Our product offering for PCB CRMs is designed to help meet the requirements of different USEPA methods in aqueous and solid matrices.

EPA Method 680
Method 1668 - Mixes for Congener Specific PCB Analysis
EPA Method 8082/8082A
Our congener specific multi components CRMs are designed to support the analysis and identification of PCBs according to different regulatory agencies. For example, our IADN CRM offers a complete SET of all PCBs commonly found in the Great Lake region.

Formulation Toxicity and Abundance Studies
Aroclors are a technical mixtures of PCBs that were manufactured by Monsanto from the 1930’s through the 1970s. Testing for Aroclors is extremely important as they exhibit similar toxic properties as the pure PCBs. This is especially the case for Aroclor 1254 due to the high concentration of chlorine.
A metabolite is a degradant or another form of the parent compound when the parent compound is exposed to different environmental conditions. Commercial sources for metabolites are not readily available for reference material applications. We offer a comprehensive selection of PCB metabolites to support toxicity studies and the evaluation of the environmental impacts for these pollutants.
